Dalai Lama tells his Facebook friends that religion "is no longer adequate"

"All the world’s major religions, with their emphasis on love, compassion, patience, tolerance, and forgiveness can and do promote inner values. But the reality of the world today is that grounding ethics in religion is no longer adequate. This is why I am increasingly convinced that the time has come to find a way of thinking about spirituality and ethics beyond religion altogether."

Any thoughts?

The Great Commission - Growth of Christianity in the world

This video was presented at the MGOCSM North America's 2011 Baltimore Leadership Camp, in which the theme was "Going Beyond Borders", based on the biblical verse Isaiah 40:31. This video highlights significant Indian Orthodox Church history from Christ, all the way to America and beyond. This video is meant to serve as an educational tool as well as to inspire and uplift Christians.

Happy Easter!

"The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you.'" St. Matthew 28:5-7 (NIV)

Happy Easter to you and your loved ones!

An Indian Orthodox App!

An Indian Orthodox App??? No way!

Finally, a fellow parishioner had the courage to create an Indian Orthodox Lectionary Facebook app of scripture readings for the current week, of the Great and Holy Lent.

Hopefully, this will lead to the future of Orthodox app development!

Where's our Orthodox App?

"Are you a sinner? Don't worry, there's an app for that. The Roman Catholic Church has approved a recent iTunes addition called Confession, a $1.99 app that bills itself as 'the perfect aid for every penitent.'"

iTunes salvation: Roman Catholic Church approves Confession app

Someone pointed out by saying "Where's our Orthodox App?" Good question. Hopefully Orthodukso or some other resource will pave the way for an app someday!
